The Montebello Townhouses is a collection of 17 two and three-bedroom residences in Montebello, California commissioned by the Sterling Realty Group.

The project is comprised of three unit types which are repeated to reduce construction costs. Despite the unit repetition, the project appears highly varied due to the multiple orientations and clever ordering of the units. This allows each residence to feel unique while maintaining overall continuity.

Each townhome has an attached two-car garage accessed by a landscaped driveway separating the three blocks that comprise the project. The front two blocks contain 14 units perpendicular to the street and the third block has three larger units that run parallel to the rear of the site.

Modern multi-story residential building with dark exterior panels, palm trees in front, and people walking on the sidewalk.

The front of the project is set back from the street, creating landscaped entry courts and guest parking.

The building has been set back from the street to make room for large landscaped entry courts that create an outdoor foyer beyond the gated entry into the project.  Through the gate, landscaped walkways lead to the front door of each residence. This common path links the residences and creates a sense of community.

Modern residential buildings with unique angular dark gray upper structures and white lower sections, situated along a street with palm trees, cars, and pedestrians, under a blue sky with clouds.

A central driveway separates the blocks, allowing direct access to the dedicated parking for each residences.

Once inside, each residence has a foyer with direct access to the garage and a light-filled stairwell. This stair leads to the open-plan kitchen, dining areas on the second floor, and bedrooms on the third floor. The stair from the bedroom level continues up to a large roof deck that takes advantage of Southern California’s beautiful weather and views.
